Real life wedding days of local couples

How they met: Rachael and Richard met as next door neighbours. He moved in next door to Rachael and introduced himself on July 18th, 2006.

The Proposal: Richard popped the question while they were together, just the two of them, at Rachael’s house at 12.02am, on New Year’s Day, January 2009.

The Wedding: Saturday, 20th March 2010, the ceremony was held at Church of the Ascension, Mappleborough Green, the reception at Kings Norton Golf Club, Weatheroak.

The Bridesmaids: Rachael’s best friend, Jenny Clulow, was her Maid of Honour and Richard’s daughter, Charlotte Caldecott, was her bridesmaid.

The Best Man: Richard’s brother, Robert Caldecott.

The Ushers: Richard’s close friend, John Summers, and stepson of the Best Man, Tom Sedgewick.

The Dress: A Mori Lee strapless gown (style 2189) from The Wedding Shop in Barnt Green, with luxe taffeta, beaded lace, with cascading lace meeting the soufflé draping over the hips, with corset tie back and a chapel length train. Bride’s Bouquet and Flowers: Arranged and supplied by, The Nursery Shop, Crabbs Cross, Redditch.

Wedding Transport: Rachael arrived at the church in a car supplied by Ultimate Cars.

The Photographer: Tony Charnock took the photos at Richard and Rachael’s big day.

The Cake: The couple’s cake was made by Rachael’s mum’s personal friend, Joan Bates.

The Honeymoon: A beautiful ten days spent at the Barcelo Santiago Hotel in Puerto Santiago, Tenerife.

Favourite Bits: Rachael says: “The whole day, but the part that really shines out for me is when my normally shy husband did a speech and I did one too, stating: ‘When I was younger, my mum always said to me that Mr Right wouldn’t come knocking at my door.’ Looking at my mum, I said, ‘Well mum, I think you were wrong about that!’, and everyone cheered and laughed.”
